The Client:
Halcyon’s client is a publicly traded heath services company. With over 30,000 employees worldwide, this company provides healthcare supply chain services to more than 40,000 locations daily. The company also manufactures medical and surgical products including gloves, surgical apparel, and fluid management products. The company also operates the nation’s largest network of radiopharmacies that dispense products to aid in the early diagnosis and treatment of disease.
The Situation:
The client’s extensive legacy implementation of BroadVision’s Business Portal was found to be insufficient in functionality and scalability that the client demanded for their enterprise. The client found it increasingly difficult to expand and support the product. The lack of product support, functionality, and knowledgeable resources made BroadVision increasingly difficult maintain and expand. A decision was made to move to Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007 to overcome these issues while increasing internal capabilities.
The Challenge:
Over years the client had build a robust BroadVision solution. The client required that the new SharePoint 2007 solution include all existing pages, documents, and security groups. The lack of internal knowledgeable resources led to the client contracting with Halcyon to architect and implement the new solution to solve their business problem.
The Solution:
Halcyon performed the migration using our industry expertise. Leveraging third party tools such as Metalogix Web Migration Manager and Metavis SharePoint tools Halcyon was able to architect and migrate existing BroadVision content including documents, pages, and custom security groups to MOSS 2007. Additionally, Halcyon provided full life-cycle services including testing and implementation to the client’s production environment.
The Results:
Halcyon was able to successfully architect and implement a solution that migrated the client’s BroadVision content to SharePoint MOSS 2007. The new solution provided extensive document management and collaboration capabilities beyond what BroadVision offered. The benefit from a cleaner more intuitive user interface lead to increased usage and organizational value.
